Biography
2005-06: Abbott recorded eight top-10 finishes in the middle distance events during the indoor season, including a fourth-place finish in the 1,000-meter run at the ECAC championships with a time of 2:36.28. He also won the conference title and placed fourth at the state championships in the 1,000-meter run at with a time of 2:34.85. Abbott registered seven top-10 finishes during the outdoor season, including a first place finish in the 800-meter run at the Hamilton Spring Invitational with a time of 1:57.62. He placed 24th at the state championships in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:02.63.
2004-05: Abbott finished the 2004-05 season with strong showings at both the NYSCTC and ECAC championships. At the NYSCTC meet he finished seventh overall in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.03. Abbott followed this performance with a fifth-place finish at the ECAC meet, finishing the 800-meter run in a career-best 1:57.22. He also finished in the top 10 in the 1,000-meter run at the West Point Invitational hosted by Army. His time was 2:38, good for fourth place.
2003-04: Abbott finished runner-up in the conference in the 800-meter dash with a career-best time of 1:58.16 at the Empire 8 outdoor championships. He finished 15th in the 800-meter dash at the state outdoor meet. Abbott finished fourth in the 400-meter dash at the Ithaca Invitational, in 52.44. He placed eighth in the 600-meter run in 1:25.78 at the Tufts Invitational during the indoor season.
High School: Abbott was a four-year letter winner at Lansing High School, where he was coached by Jason Eade and Mark Soerhen. He was a part of the state-champion 1,600-meter relay his sophomore year and the state-champion 3,200-meter relay his senior season. He holds Lansing’s records in the outdoor 800-meter run and the indoor 1,000-meter run.
Personal: The son of Jeff and Lori Abbott, he is a music performance and music education major.
