Biography
2006-07: In his only competition of the season, Scardella posted two top-three finishes at the RIT Invitational, placing second in the triple jump (12.31m/40-4 3/4) and third in the long jump (6.08m/19-11 1/2).
2005-06: Scardella won the conference title in the long jump (6.41m/21-½) and was the conference runner-up in the 55-meter hurdles (8.21) at the indoor championships. He placed seventh and sixth in the state, respectively. Scardella recorded a season-best time of 8.16 in the 55-meter hurdles, placing him 12th at the ECAC indoor championships. He recorded seven top-10 finishes in the long jump, including a season-best mark of 6.46 meters (21-2 ½) to place ninth at Cornell’s Robert Kane Invitational.
2004-05: Scardella was the conference champion in the long jump, with a distance of 6.15 meters, and was the conference runner-up in the 110-hurdles (15.84) during the outdoor season, and placed third in the conference and ninth in the state in the 55-meter hurdles during the indoor season. At the Ithaca Invitational, Scardella finished fifth in the 110–meter hurdles with a time of 16.99. In the same meet, he placed second in the long jump with a distance of 6.11 meters. Scardella was even better in the same two events at the Raider Invitational at Roberts Wesleyan, where he took first in the 110–meter hurdles ( 17.01) and placed second in the long jump (5.99 meters).
High School: Scardella was a four-year letter winner at Oswego High School, where was coached by Erwin Dewey. A four-year scholar athlete, he was a first team all-league selection in the 55- and 110-meter hurdles and in the long jump.
Personal: The son of John and Jean Scardella, he is an exercise science major.
