Biography

2003-04: Furstoss began competing in diving events for Ithaca. He finished 10th in one- and three-meter diving at the conference championship with scores of 277.95 and 248.50, respectively. At the state meet he finished 16th in one-meter diving. In a dual meet vs. Union, Furstoss finished
second in three-meter diving (173.85) and third in one-meter diving (165.05). He was named to the UNYSCSA all-academic team.

2002-03: Furstoss swam three career best times at the conference and state championships. At the Empire 8 championship he finished 11th in the 200-yard butterfly (2:13.63), 12th in the 400-yard individual medley (4:44.77) and 21st in the 200-yard individual medley (2:13.40). At the UNYSCSA meet he placed 22nd in the 200-yard butterfly and 23rd in the 400-yard individual medley. Furstoss
finished third in the 400-yard individual medley in a dual meet vs. Cortland.

High School: Furstoss was a four-year letter winner for coach Fred Seither at Horseheads High School. A two-time captain, he was a member of the 400-yard freestyle relay team that won the sectional championships in 2000 and 2001.

Personal: The son of Ronald and Louise Furstoss, he is an organizational communication, learning and design major. His brother, Mike, is a 2004 graduate of Ithaca and was a member of the men’s swimming and diving team who was the state champion in the three-meter diving event last season.
