2010-11 game-by-game statistics

2009-10: Cruz-Rivas started 26 of the 27 games in which he played as a junior, averaging 13.5 points to rank third on the team. A 2009-10 Empire 8 Honorable Mention selection, Cruz-Rivas ranked second on the squad for rebounds and assists. He pulled down 6.3 rebounds per contest and dished out 48 assists during the season, while also adding 42 steals and seven blocks. The junior recorded a pair of double-doubles including a career-high 34 point and 10 rebound performance on Jan. 19 against RIT. Averaging 33 minutes per game, Cruz-Rivas tallied double-digit points on 17 occasions including four games with more than 20 points. He led the Bombers in scoring six times and rebounding four times. Cruz-Rivas shot .424 from the floor and .732 from the foul line throughout the season.

2009-10 game-by-game statistics

2008-09: Cruz-Rivas started every game for the Bombers as a sophomore, averaging 23.5 minutes per game. He was team’s second-leading scorer with 13.0 points per game, and ranked third with 4.3 rebounds per game. He is the Bombers’ top returning player in both categories. He also chipped in 29 steals, 15 assists and seven blocks. Cruz-Rivas was an honorable mention to the Empire 8 all-conference team. He reached double-figures in scoring 19 times in 27 games, including six games with at least 20 points. Cruz-Rivas scored a career-best 24 points at Utica, making six three-pointers against the Pioneers. On the season, Cruz-Rivas shot .491 from the field, the ninth-best figure in the Empire 8. On three-point attempts he shot .369 (48-for-130). Cruz-Rivas was named Empire 8 Player of the Week following a 22 point, seven rebound four steal performance in a win over Cortland. He was also named the all-tournament team at Rochester’s Chuck Resler Invitational after scoring 21 points in the championship game. In the NCAA playoffs against DeSales, Cruz-Rivas shot .714 percent from the floor, and made two three-point field goals in three tries.

2007-08: Cruz-Rivas played in 12 games as a freshman, averaging 4.4 points in 7.8 minutes per game. His season-high in scoring came on 13 points against Oneonta. Cruz-Rivas shot .462 from the floor and .833 from the free throw line.

Career Statistics

High School: A 2007 graduate of West Genesee High School, Cruz-Rivas was coached by Steve Dunham, a two-time all-American basketball player at Ithaca. He was a first-team all-league and second-team all-Central New York selection his senior season while also earning team MVP honors.

Personal: A health promotion and physical education major, he is the son of Carmen Rivas.
