Biography

2010-11: Dewart became the program’s second national champion by winning the indoor pentathlon at the 2011 NCAA Championships. She became the program’s most decorated athlete adding five All-America finishes, first in the indoor pentathlon, second in the outdoor heptathlon, third in the outdoor long jump, fourth in the outdoor high jump and eighth in the outdoor 100-meter hurdles, to her three existing. Dewart also broke six school records, three indoors and three outdoors as a junior. A third-team Academic All-American and a first-team District I All-Academic Team selection, USTFCCCA selected Dewart to the All-Academic Team and named her the Indoor Field Event Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She earned Atlantic Region Indoor Field Athlete of the Year honors, as well as Empire 8 Field Athlete of the Year and Empire 8 Field Athlete of the Meet indoors. She was a three-time conference champion and earned All-NYSCTC and All-ECAC honors four teams each indoors. Her indoor season-best performances included 7.53 in the 55 dash, 8.35 in the 60 dash, 2:24.60 in the 800, 8.44 in the 55 hurdles, a school-record 8.96 in the 60 hurdles, a school-record 3:58.28 in the 1,600 relay, 1.67 meters in the high jump, 5.64 meters in the long jump, 9.68 meters in the shot put and a school-record 3,565 points in the pentathlon. Outdoors Dewart was named Atlantic Region Field Athlete of the Year, Empire 8 Field Athlete of the Year, NYSCTC Field Athlete of the Meet and Empire 8 Field Athlete of the Meet. She was a two-time Empire 8 champion, five-time NYSCTC champion and two-time ECAC champion outdoors. Dewart was also an Empire 8 runner-up, a two-time All-NYSCTC selection and a two-time All-ECAC finisher. Her outdoor season-best performances included 25.95 in the 200, 2:23.07 in the 800, a school-record 14.10 in the 100 hurdles, 48.93 in the 400 relay, 3:55.04 in the 1,600 relay, 1.68 meters in the high, a school-record 5.86 meters in the long, 11.35 meters in the triple, 9.86 meters in the shot, 30.49 meters in the javelin and a school record 5,015 points in the heptathlon. She was a seven-time Empire 8 Women’s Track & Field Athlete of the Week.

2009-10: A two-time 2010 indoor All-American, Dewart finished second in the pentathlon and third in the high jump at the NCAA Indoor Championships. The Empire 8 champion in the high jump and a member of the victorious 1,600-meter relay, Dewart was named the Empire 8 Indoor Field Athlete of the year. In addition she was the conference runner-up in the 55 hurdles and long jump. An All-ECAC selection in the 55 hurdles and high jump, she was the state champion in the pentathlon, high jump and 800 relay, while earning All-NYSCTC accolades in the 55 hurdles, 55 dash and long jump. Twice earning Empire 8 Athlete of the Week awards, Dewart tallied indoor season-bests of 3,508 points in the pentathlon, 9.34 seconds in the 60 hurdles, 8.31 in the 60 dash, 8.37 in the 55 hurdles, 7.47 in the 55 dash, 2:28.64 in the 800 run, ran on a 1:45.56 800 relay and a 4:06.98 1,600 relay, threw 10.00 meters in the shot and tallied jumps of 1.67 meters and 5.53 meters in the high and long jumps, respectively. During the outdoor season of her sophomore year, Dewart was named USTFCCCA Atlantic Region Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year. Dewart, who participated in the heptathlon and 100 hurdles at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, competed in 10 individual events throughout the outdoor season and a pair of relays. In doing so she was named the NYSCTC Field Athlete of the Meet at the state championships, Empire 8 Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year and was honored on the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team. A two-time Empire 8 Athlete of the Week, Dewart won five events at the NYSCTC Championships and was the runner-up in another, while also winning four events at the conference championships. On the track she tallied season-bests of 12.91 in the 100 dash, 14.56 in the 100 hurdles, 25.65 in the 200 dash, 1:07.73 in the 400 hurdles, 2:28.58 in the 800 run and ran the second leg of Ithaca’s 49.69 400 relay and 4:02.47 1,600 relay. In the field events, Dewart recorded season-best marks of 1.70 meters in the high jump, 5.54 meters in the long jump, 9.43 meters in the shot and 29.45 meters in the javelin. She also tallied a season-best mark in the heptathlon of 4,724 points.

2008-09: Dewart became Ithaca’s first-ever all-American in the pentathlon after placing seventh at the NCAA Championships. She scored a career-best 3,207 points in the event. Dewart won both the NYSCTC and ECAC titles in the pentathlon as a freshman. Outdoors, Dewart qualified for nationals in the heptathlon. She won state titles in both events. In total, Dewart was a 10-time all-NYSCTC performer as a freshman, earning all-state accolades in the pentathlon, 55-meter dash, 55-meter hurdles, long jump and high jump indoors, and placing in the heptathlon, long jump, 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles at the outdoor state meet. In addition, Dewart won the high jump at both the indoor and outdoor Empire 8 Championships. She was runner-up to teammate Lauren Koppel in both the 100- and 400-meter hurdles at the outdoor conference meet. Dewart was named NYSCTC Rookie of the Year and Empire 8 Field Athlete of the Year during both the indoor and outdoor seasons. She was also named Empire 8 Rookie of the Year following the indoor season.

High School: A 2008 graduate of Barker High School, Dewart was coached by William Wilson. She earned five total varsity letters in track & field and was a three-time team captain. As a senior, she was her team’s MVP and section champion in the high jump. Dewart also lettered in soccer and basketball.

Personal: A health promotion and physical education major, she is the daughter of Jonathan and Amy Dewart.
