Biography
2005-06: Gundersen competed in the 50-, 100-, and 200-yard freestyle events at the NCAA Championships after recording a “B” cut in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.77, which ranks fourth on Ithaca’s all-time list. She also ranks fourth all-time in the 50- (tied-24.51) and 200-yard (1:55.48) freestyle events and is sixth in the 500-yard freestyle (5:12.83). Gundersen won state and conference titles in the 100-, 200- and 500-yard freestyle and the 200-, 400- and 800-yard freestyle relays, and was the conference runner-up in the 400-yard medley relay. She registered 11 top-three finishes and was second on the team in scoring with 321.00 points. She was named to the NYSWCAA all-academic team.
2004-05: Gundersen was all-NYSCTC in four events, finishing third in both the 400- and 800-yard freestyle relay, fifth in the 500-yard freestyle, and seventh in the 200-yard freestyle. She was Empire 8 runner up in three events at the NYSWCAA championships, including finishing fifth in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:21.56. She was also a member of the Empire 8 runner-up 400- (third, 3:40.63) and 800-yard (third, 8:04.13) freestyle relays.
2003-04: Gundersen competed in the freestyle events and relays. Her top individual finish was a fifth-place showing in the 100-yard freestyle at Union. She placed sixth in the 200-yard freestyle against Cortland and Union. Gundersen swam on the third-place 200-yard freestyle relay team in the Alfred win.
High School: A 2003 graduate of Hollis-Brookline High School, Gundersen was coached by Bob Oulette. She was also a member of the cross country and track & field teams.
Personal: A clinical science/physical therapy major, she is the daughter of Jon and Edna Gundersen. She is also a member of the track & field team at Ithaca.
