Biography
2005-06: Branning won the conference title and placed 16th at the state championships in the weight throw with a toss of 12.90 meters (42-4) during the indoor season. He registered three top-10 finishes in the weight throw, placing second at Army and St. Lawrence and eighth at the Cornell’s Upstate Challenge. Branning finished sixth at St. Lawrence and 10th at Army in the shot put. He won the conference outdoor title in the discus and hammer throw with distances of 39.23 meters (128-8) and 44.78 meters (146-11). He placed sixth and fifth at the state championships, respectively, and recorded 17 top-10 finishes in the discus, hammer and shot put. Branning turned in a 20th-place toss in the hammer throw at the ECAC outdoor championships.
2002-04: Branning was a two-year member of the track and field team at Alfred State, where he earned one varsity letter.
High School: Branning was a four-year member of the track and field team at Livingston Manor High School, where he set school records in the discuss, hammer and weight throws and the pentathlon. He also set the conference record in the hammer throw. Branning served as team captain and was named team MVP his junior and senior years, and was the recipient of the school MVP award his senior year. He was also a four-year member of the football team.
Personal: The son of Ralph and Sharon Branning, he is a business administration major.
