ITHACA, N.Y. - With sunny skies and a slight breeze in the air Ithaca College hosted their first outdoor track and field meet in over a decade. The Ithaca men's and women's track teams welcomed six other schools at the Egan Family Complex and put down some quick times and impressive marks to welcome outdoor track back to Ithaca College.
The first track event for the women was the 4x100 relays where the Bombers fielded two teams and took first and second in the competition. Sophomore
Marykate Rudnicki and first-year
Simone Eidex led the two relays off for the Bombers, getting the action on the track started for Ithaca. Rudnicki's team which also featured senior
Rachel Larson, junior
Ava Butler and sophomore
Aynisha McQuillar ran 48.93 seconds for the win.
Larson also led the team in the 100 meter hurdles, beating four Cornell University athletes to take the win in 13.80 seconds. Larson's season best of 13.76 seconds is currently ranked third nationally as she looks to secure her fourth All-American honor later this season.
The Bombers also placed 1-4 in the 100 meter dash and were led by McQuillar who ran 12.44 seconds for the win. She was followed by Eidex in 13.11, and first-years
Meredith Colla and Valentine Wallin in 13.16 and 13.18 seconds respectively. Colla also placed in the top five in the 200 meter dash where she ran 26.81 for a personal best, right behind Butler who ran 26.63 for fourth place.
The Bombers also saw top three performances by junior
Lyla Powers in the 400 meter dash, running 63.0 for third and senior
Jessica Goode in the 1500 meter run running 5:03.54 for second.
In the field events, the Bombers saw a whooping five first place finishes, winning the Long Jump, Hammer Throw, Shot Put, Discus Throw and Javelin Throw. First-year
Anneliese Hubbard jumped 4.90 meters to win the long jump and take home a season best. Junior
Charlotte Powell won the Javelin by 12 meters, launching the stick 36.23 meters, a personal best by over a full meter.
Senior All-American
Lily Seyfert did more than just win a throws event, she dominated, sweeping the Discus, Shot Put and Hammer. While she only recorded a personal best in the Hammer Throw, throwing 52.70 meters, it is fitting that the team captain will hold the facility record in all three of her throwing events for the time being.
Other notable results in the field included junior
Talia Hutchinson clearing 3.96 meters to take second in the pole vault, putting her eighth in the nation heading into the final weekend of the regular season. Junior
Celia Ryan matched her season best of 1.58 meters in the high jump, placing third in the event.
The Bombers will be back on the road this weekend when they travel to Rochester, New York to compete in the St. John Fisher Cardinal Classic to conclude the regular season.
