ITHACA, N.Y. - The Ithaca College men's rowing enters the spring season with energy and purpose, earning a preseason ranking of No. 10 nationally as they prepare to build on last year's success. After a strong and disciplined winter training block, the Bombers have laid the groundwork for what promises to be another highly competitive campaign.

The season opens this weekend with an early test against regional rivals Hobart College, Hamilton College (No. 11), and Skidmore College (No. 12). With three closely ranked crews lining up, it's an immediate opportunity for Ithaca to measure speed and depth against strong competition right out of the gate.

Ithaca enters the spring as the defending champions of the Liberty League, a title they earned through consistency, toughness, and a commitment to racing at a high level. That standard remains, but the path forward will be anything but easy. The league continues to improve across the board, and every race this season will demand focus and execution.

The Bombers return a strong core of experienced student-athletes while also welcoming a talented group of recruits and walk-ons who have quickly made an impact. That blend of veteran leadership and emerging depth has created a competitive training environment and positioned the team to continue building speed as the season unfolds. Individually, Rhys Pellaton '27 has earned early national recognition with a spot on the Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association Watchlist.

"We're excited about the group we have this year," said head coach Justin Stangel. "Our returning athletes have set a strong standard, and our newcomers have come in ready to compete, which has created a really positive, competitive environment. Our leadership has done a great job bringing the team along, and we're starting to see real depth develop. We're looking forward to seeing how that translates when we line up this weekend."

With a balanced roster, internal competition, and a clear sense of purpose, Ithaca is poised for another impactful spring. The focus will be on steady progression, aggressive racing, and putting themselves in position to defend their conference title at the Liberty League Championships on Friday, May 1.
