ITHACA, N.Y. – The National Collegiate Gymnastics Association announced its Specialist and All-Around Gymnasts of the Week on February 2 and Ithaca College graduate student
Jillian Freyman was chosen as the top specialist after her performances in a tri-meet on Sunday, February 1 against Springfield and Rhode Island College.
Freyman turned in a pair of 9.750 scores during the home tri-meet and was one of three IC gymnasts to score 9.750 on the beam, which was the best in the event. She was second overall on floor as she posted her best performances of the season in each event.
The honor marks the eight consecutive season in which an IC gymnast has earned weekly praise from the NCGA and Freyman's selection accounts for the 16th weekly honor for the Bombers during that eight-year stretch.
Ithaca is back at home this Sunday, February 8 for a tri-meet with Brockport and Cortland, which will be the Harriett Marranca Memorial Invitational and Senior Day. Freyman is one of five seniors who will be honored following the completion of the meet.
