Women’s Track & Field Sits in First After Day One of Liberty League Championships

ROCHESTER, N.Y. –
The Ithaca College women's track & field team posted 101 points in the first day of the Liberty League Indoor Championships at RIT on Friday and holds a 13.7-point advantage over Rochester heading into the final day of competition.

The Bombers dominated the pole vault, taking six of the top seven spots to earn 34 points towards the team total. Talia Hutchison moved up to within the top 10 nationally with her first place performance of 3.91 meters. Erin Eastwood and Bree Boyle tied for second at 3.60 meters, while Teagan Kiger placed fourth with a mark of 3.45 meters. Raessler Guthrie cleared 3.30 meters to come in sixth and Abigail Reppert was seventh at 3.15 meters.

Cameron Ting led the charge by winning the pentathlon title with 3167 points after posting top marks in the 60-meter hurdles, high jump, and long jump while also finishing second in the 800 meters to close the event. Ithaca loaded the leaderboard behind her as Cecelia LaBonte took third and Maria Prattico placed fifth, giving the Bombers three scorers inside the top five.

Lola Gitlin was the runner-up in the 5000-meter run in a time of 17:52.76 and Hannah Pawlowski took fifth in 17:58.39 to give IC another 12 points.

Lily Seyfert added a third-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 13.22 meters, and Charlotte Powell secured fifth place to extend the team's advantage in the field events as she measured out 12.24 meters.

Rachel Larson put together one of the best performances of the meet on Day 1 as she ran a time of 8.52 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles prelim to set a new meet and facility record. Larson was first in the prelim by over three-tenths of a second and improved her third-best time in Division III by .04.

Cecelia Labonte and Cameron Ting also qualified for the 60 hurdles final with prelim times of 9.38 and 9.42 seconds. The duo will be seeded seventh and eighth in tomorrow's final.

Aynisha McQuillar and Larson were qualifiers in the 60-meter dash after prelim showings of 7.81 and 7.93 seconds. McQuillar ran the second fastest time, while Larson was fifth.

Kayleigh Milligan secured fourth place in the mile with a time of 5:08.10. Valentina Wallin also posted a fourth place finish in the 400-meter dash in 59.43 seconds.

Ithaca's distance medley relay of Joy Petersen, Julia Ryba, Violet Sloan, Jessica Goode took fourth overall in a time of 12:44.95.

LaBonte, Ting and Alexis Brown claimed three spots on the podium in the long jump with sixth, seventh and eighth place showings. LaBonte was 5.34 meters, Ting posted a mark of 5.33 and Brown rounded out the top eight at 5.32.
