ITHACA, N.Y. – On Tuesday afternoon, February 10, the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association released its Specialist and All-Around Gymnast of the Week awards and Ithaca College senior
Grace Murray was chosen as the top specialist.
For the second time in her career, Murray has been named NCGA Specialist of the Week, adding on to the same honor in which she earned during her sophomore season. The weekly praise also marks the second consecutive week that Ithaca has been recognized, as
Jillian Freyman received the aware last Tuesday.
In a tri-meet with Brockport and Cortland on Super Bowl Sunday, which was also Senior Day and the Harriett Marranca Invitational, Murray won the vault and floor. She introduced an upgraded vault, scoring 9.750 and continued her solid season on floor with a 9.825.
This season, Murray has placed either first or second in each event and currently ranks first nationally on floor with an average score of 9.831 and is fourth on vault at 9.694.
Ithaca hosts its final meet of the season this evening against Cortland at 6:30 p.m. The Bombers will then head to Cortland on Saturday for the Empire State Championships.
