Cherry Hill, N.J. - The varsity four started things off on finals day, rowing the grand final. The Bombers were able to get off the line cleanly and find a decent rhythm in the first half, rowing level with Stockton, case Western, US Merchant Marine for second place. In the second half they were able to push away from Stockton and try to hang with Case Western but were unable to match their moves. Finishing a respectable fourth. Racing in the boat on Sunday was once again
Zach Bowley,
Liam Dickey,
Liam Carnahan and
Ethan Revis
The second varsity had probably the most dramatic race of the day. Racing varsity crews in the DIII event. The field was tightly packed early, with the Bombers back in sixth place. They were able to stay composed and slowly reel in the crews ahead of them and finished with a strong sprint in the last hundred meters to grab the bronze. The IC 2V8 consisted of
Caroline Grass,
Nico Greenberg,
Griffin Hunt,
Tynan Fields,
Nolyn Boswell,
Brennen Mone,
Jonah Alefantis,
Henry Hersperger and
Brodie Hart.
In the final race of the day for the Bombers, the varsity 8 team was up against Colgate and Fairfield in the B final of the varsity event. This was a real battle with Colgate the whole way down the course. The lead changed many times but neither crew had more than a three or four-seat advantage the whole way. Going into the last 500, Colgate held a slight lead but the Bombers put on a sprint to get just ahead before the line in a well rowed race.
Head coach
Justin Stangel was pleased with the results and added. "This was a solid representation of the Bomber rowing program this weekend. I think we learned a little something about ourselves and took some positive steps forward," added Stangel." "You learn a lot about yourself in these close races and I'm proud of how we handled it."
Next up, Ithaca College will take part in the Remley Cup in Worcester, Mass. where the Bombers will face WPI, Trinity, Colby, and Marietta.
