Cherry Hill, N.J. – The Ithaca College men's rowing team showcased their competitive spirit in recent races against top-tier opponents after the first day at the 2025 Knecht Cup.

The Varsity 8 team of Miles Kenaston, Andrew Cheely, Bryce Williston, Liam Baker, Andrew Coit, Wesley Hoglin, Marshall Adams and Max Detzer faced a challenging heat against Division 1 teams, including MIT, Mercyhurst, Colgate, and Fairfield. Despite MIT's early lead, the Bombers managed to overtake Mercyhurst, Colgate, and Fairfield in the first half of the race. Although they pushed ahead of Fairfield, the competition remained tight with Colgate and Mercyhurst, ultimately finishing 0.3 seconds behind Colgate and 3.2 seconds behind Mercyhurst.

In the Division 3 category, the 2V8 team of Caroline Grass, Nico Greenberg, Griffin Hunt, Tynan Fields, Nolyn Boswell, Brennen Mone, Jonah Alefantis, Henry Hersperger and Brodie Hart competed against both 1V and 2V crews. In their heats, they faced Skidmore A, St. Mary's A, Case Western, and Stockton. The Bombers took an early lead but were matched by Skidmore by the 500-meter mark. The race was a close battle, with both teams pulling away from the rest of the field. Ithaca finished second, trailing Skidmore by 6 seconds.

The Varsity 4+ team of Zach Bowley, Liam Dickey, Liam Carnahan and Ethan Revis concluded the day with a heat against U.S. Merchant Marine, Case Western, Stockton, Trinity, and Washington College B. Despite challenging starting conditions, the crew regained composure by the 1-kilometer mark, engaging in a fierce battle for the lead with Case Western and Merchant Marine. Although Merchant Marine secured a slight lead, the Bombers executed a strong sprint to finish ahead of Case Western.

According to head coach, Justin Stangel --"The Ithaca College crews teams demonstrated resilience and skill in cold and breezy conditions. I look forward to seeing how we fair in the finals tomorrow!"

Next up, all crews race again tomorrow in their respective finals. 2V and V4+ will race in the A Finals for a shot at the medals and the V8 will be in the B Final. Results from Saturday can be found here.
