ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College gymnastics program will travel to SUNY Brockport this Saturday, March 8 for the NCGA East Region Championships, which will be held inside Jim & John Vlogianitis Gymnasium at 1 p.m. Ithaca is one of seven teams competing on Saturday, and the top two scoring teams will receive an automatic bid to the NCGA Championship on March 22 at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn.
Brockport, Cortland, Rhode Island College, Springfield, Ursinus and Utica will also be competing on Saturday. On Monday, the NCGA will announce the two at-large teams, as well as individual qualifiers.
Ithaca has been on the rise as of late with four of its last five meets scoring over 190.000 (the fifth was 189.925) and currently ranks seventh as a team in SAS at 190.9438. The Bombers most consistent event all season as been floor, which IC ranks fifth at 48.4563. The Bombers are seventh on bars (47.5063) and beam (47.7313), while they rank 10th on vault (47.6875).
Individually, Ithaca boasts five gymnasts that rank top 10 nationally in their respective events.
Lauren Babineaux is in a tie for third on bars in SAS at 9.7250,
Grace Murray is tied for fifth on floor with 9.7938 and
Corey Foster is tied for seventh with 9.7875, while
Natalie Steed is 10th on vault at 9.7000 and
Emily Kobusky ranks 10th on beam at 9.7438.
