Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

No. 16 Women’s Lacrosse Falls on the Road to Union, 12-10

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 16 Ithaca College women's lacrosse team traveled to Union College on Saturday for a Liberty League showdown and fell to the Garnet Chargers, 12-10. The loss drops IC's overall record to 5-3 and 2-1 in the Liberty League.

The Bombers raced out to a 4-1 lead after eight minutes of action as Elizabeth Green got the offense started with back-to-back goals, followed by tallies from Kelly Augeri and Lily Cody. After a Union goal, IC tacked on another from Cody to finish off the first quarter with a 5-2 advantage.

The second period was completely different as the Garnet Chargers outscored IC, 6-1 and took an 8-6 lead into halftime. Union notched five unanswered goals in an eight-minute span, but the streak came to an end as Green recorded her hat trick with 1:55 left to make it 7-6 Union. The half came to a close with another Union goal with just 25 second on the clock.

Ithaca was never able to regain the lead in the second half but tied the contest up twice at 8-8 and 10-10 before Union put the game away with fourth quarter goals at the 10:30 and 6:13 marks. In the third quarter, Lexi Kellish and Hayley Armstrong scored to knot things up at 8-8, but a pair of goals from Union in just 45 seconds ended the period with a 10-8 score.

Early in the fourth, Leigh Naturale and Juliana Esposito deadlocked the game again, 10-10, with markers just 41 seconds apart, but those were the last goals for the Bombers.

Kellish finished the game with six caused turnovers, while Olivia Puppo picked five ground balls and Cody won five draws.

Ithaca returns home next weekend for a back-to-back against Clarkson on April 4 and St. Lawrence on April 5.
