ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's and women's diving teams hosted both SUNY Geneseo and RIT in the 2025 Geneca Diving Invitational inside the Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium. Senior
Kailee Payne continued her exceptional season as she broke three school and pool records as she won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. Payne who has been named the Liberty League Diver of the Week nine times and her overall performance saw her reset both the pool and school record in her six dive total on the 1-meter (347.60), the 11-dive finals score of 572.05 as well as the 3-meter 11-dive pool and school record with her total of 577.45.
On the 1-meter boards,
Kailee Payne ended up winning the event by over 100 points with her 11-dive total of 572.05. Teammate
Angela Burke was second putting together a finals score of 472.00, followed by
Jenell Slesser (441.50) and
Anastasia Albornoz (413.15). Albornoz secured her place into the NCAA Diving Regional with her total as she joins previously qualified teammates Payne, Burke, Slesser and
Maya Hathorn.
Eliza Salus would do the same as she secured her spot on the 3-meter boards with her fourth-place finish and total of 433.55.
Kailee Payne once again won the event with her school and pool record total of 577.45 and finishing second and third, respectively were
Maya Hathorn (457.30) and
Jenell Slesser (451.00).
In men's action, divers first competed on the 3-meter boards as SUNY Geneseo's Trent Makowiec put together an impressive 11 dives with a score of 616.40. Trailing him in second-place was the Knights Greg Meder who totaled a 569.20. Ithaca's
Ethan Godfrey was the third with his finals score of 532.45 followed by
Kian Long (474.45) and
Samuel Smith (406.00). Makowiec was also on the 1-meter boards as he bested the competition putting together a finals score of 563.95 and Long was also the top IC finisher with his second-place finish and total of 511.50.
Ithaca hosts the Liberty League Swimming & Diving Championships from February 19-23 inside the Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium.
