Women’s Track & Field Leads Liberty League Championships After Day One

ITHACA, N.Y. –
The Ithaca College women's track & field team has built a 14-point lead following the opening day of the Liberty League Championships at Glazer Arena as the Bombers posted 90 points on Friday. The University of Rochester sits in second with 76 points.

More than a third of IC's points on the day came from the pole vault as the Bombers scored 32 points in the event. Erin Eastwood won the event with a personal-best mark of 3.74 meters and moved up to No. 17 in Division III. Teagan Kiger was the runner-up at 3.52 meters and Bree Boyle also cleared that height to place third. Talia Hutchinson also cleared 3.52 meters to come in fifth, while Abby Reppert took sixth at 3.07 meters.

Lily Seyfert squeaked out the victory in the shot put with a mark of 13.27 meters to top Cora Rose of Rochester by .01. Charlotte Powell took eighth in the shot put with a mark of 11.67 meters.

Natalie MacArthur secured third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.24 seconds, while Ava Butler placed fifth in 59.75 seconds.

The Bombers placed three in the long jump as Jordyn Dolan led the way in fourth at 5.26 meters. Hannah Hoffman placed sixth and Alexis Brown was seventh as both also leaped 5.26 meters.

IC's distance medley relay of Emily Johnson, Carolina Cedraschi, Lyla Powers and Jessica Goode posted a fourth place in 12:51.57.

Logan Brasacchio took sixth in the 5000-meter run in a time of 18:38.92, while Joy Petersen secured eighth in the mile with a time of 5:12.62.

IC will send four sprinters into tomorrow's 60-meter dash final as Aynisha McQuillar was the top overall seed at 7.74 seconds and Laura Suppa will be seeded second in a time of 7.84. Marykate Rudnicki is seeded sixth after a time of 8.04 and Rachel Larson placed seventh in 8.05.

The Bombers have the top two qualifiers in the 60-meter hurdles as Larson posted a PR and meet record time of 8.61 seconds, which also moved her up to No. 3 in Division III. Suppa was the runner-up in a time of 8.65.

Competition resumes at 11 a.m. tomorrow.
