ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's swimming & diving program once again put in solid performances on the second day of the 2025 Liberty League Swimming & Diving Championships, hosted on campus in the Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium. The RIT Tigers (824) now lead the team standings, with the Bombers close behind in second (776) and RPI rounding out the top three (573).
Matthew Janssen was the top Bomber finisher in the 400-yard IM, finishing second with a time of 4:04.05. Fellow Bombers
Boden Pearson (4:07.14),
Marshall Adams (4:10.97), and
Elijah Gehman (4:12.76) placed third, sixth, and eighth, respectively. The event was won by Skidmore's Ryan Delfico, who defended his title from last season with a finals time of 4:03.19.
RIT swept the podium in the 100-yard butterfly, with Drew Scheib taking first and breaking the championship and association record (47.60). Mike Atanasoff finished second (48.70), and Ryan Clancy took third (49.68). Ithaca's
Matthew Mitros placed fourth with a time of 49.88.
Ryan Cooke secured second place in the 200-yard freestyle with a strong closing 25 yards, finishing with a time of 1:39.74 as the top Ithaca finisher.
Kyle Kruppa also finished seventh (1:42.44) for the Bombers. RPI's Mike Dowd took first place with a time of 1:38.36, topping his previous championship record and achieving an NCAA B-cut.
RIT came back in the final seconds of the 200-yard freestyle relay, placing first with a time of 1:20.83, thanks to a speedy final 50 yards by Drew Scheib. RPI claimed second just behind RIT with a time of 1:21.05. The Bombers relay team, consisting of
Matthew Mitros,
Alec Kutsner,
Ryan Cooke, and
Spencer Alderson, clinched third place with a time of 1:22.15.

Day three of the 2025 Liberty League Swimming & Diving Championships continues on Friday with swimming preliminaries at 10 a.m., diving preliminaries at 1 p.m., and finals for both at 6 p.m. The day will begin with the 200-yard medley relay, followed by the 200-yard butterfly, 100-yard backstroke, 100-yard breaststroke, and will conclude with the 800-yard freestyle relay. The men's divers will also return to action on the 1-meter boards.
