ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's and women's track & field teams will begin their indoor season this weekend as the Bombers head across town to compete at Cornell University for the Greg Page Relays on Friday and Saturday, December 5-6.
The IC women return this winter as the defending Liberty League champions, their first since 2021-22, as the Bombers dominated the conference meet last February by 69 points. IC was just edged out by Rochester during the Liberty League Outdoor Championship by two points. The Bombers were also extremely competitive at the AARTFC meets with a runner-up showing during indoors and third place finish at outdoors.
The Bombers were represented by numerous NCAA Division III qualifiers a season ago, finishing 29th at the indoor championships and 41st at outdoor nationals. IC returns three national qualifiers in
Rachel Larson,
Madeleine Wright and
Aynisha McQuillar. Larson was a first-team All-American in the 60-meter hurdles and 100-meter hurdles, while Wright was a second-team All-American in the high jump during both championships.
All three of them claimed at least one Liberty League title last season, as did five others who return this year –
Erin Eastwood,
Lily Seyfert,
Cecelia LaBonte,
Talia Hutchinson and
Cameron Ting.
The men finished fifth at both conference championship meets, were 19th at the indoor AARTFC Championships and 29th in outdoors.
Ben Buffone qualified for the 800-meter run for the NCAA Indoor Championships but was unable to compete.
Luke Ellor is the lone returner who won a conference title last season in the outdoor shot put, but Buffone and
Matt Lokshin are returners who were All-Liberty League.
Following this weekend's multi meet at Cornell, the Bombers will be off until January 10 when they return to Cornell for the Southern Tier Invitational.
IC will then be home for four straight weekend as it will host quad meets on January 17 and 24, followed by the Bomber Invitational on January 31-February and conclude the home season with a dual meet against Rochester on February 7.
Ithaca will split its squad on February 13-14 as some Bombers will travel to the Boston Valentine Invitational and others will remain in town to compete at the Kane Invitational on East Hill. On February 21, the Bombers will once again travel across town for the Deneault Invitational as a tune up before championship season.
The Liberty League Championships take place on February 27-28 at RIT and the AARTFC Championships will be held at the NYC Armory on March 6-7. The NCAA Division III Championships conclude the indoor season on March 13-14 in Birmingham, Ala.
All indoor home meets this season will be available for viewers on the Bomber Sports YouTube channel and live results are provided be leonetiming.com.
