Men’s Wrestling Snags a Pair of Third-Place Finishers in Highly Competitive “Shorty” Hitchcock Classic

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The No. 19 Ithaca College men's wrestling team competed in a stacked field at the 16th Annual "Shorty" Hitchcock Classic on Saturday, hosted by Millersville University. The Bombers finished sixth overall in a tournament that featured a deep mix of Division I, II, and III talent, with 54 teams represented.
 
Jay McDonnell and senior Konrad Parker led the way for the Bombers as each finished third in their respective weight classes.
 
McDonnell began his afternoon with a 10-8 decision in the round of 32 and came away with a 9-4 decision over Millersville's Colin Higgins to advance to quarterfinals at 133 lbs. He would then impress with an 11-3 major over Logan Alexander who was wrestling unattached for West Virginia. The sophomore then fell 10-2 in the semis but bounced back pinning Sean Garreston (Navy) in 1:55 to claim third place.
 
After going 5-0 last weekend, Konrad Parker went 4-1 on Saturday. He was clinical in a 13-0 major decision over Charles Parker and followed it up defeating Spencer Fine, 12-9 to punch his ticket to the quarterfinals. Parker then defeated Tommy Grimley of Kutztown in another major decision (16-5). With a 3-2 lead against Franklin & Marshall's Dom Whatley he was caught and pinned but bounced back in his third-place bout with a 8-3 win over Maryland's Seth Digby.
 
Ithaca returns to action on Saturday, November 22 in the NYS Championships.
