ITHACA, N.Y. - The Ithaca College men's rowing team closed out its fall racing schedule with a solid performance against Hamilton College on Saturday, November 1 as they returned to the Cayuga Inlet.
Racing opened under ideal morning conditions on a 4,000-meter course finishing on the lake. The Bombers' first and second varsity eights faced Hamilton's 1V and 2V in the opening session. The IC 1V lineup consisted of
Sami Smith,
Max Detzer,
Rhys Pellaton,
Andrew Cheely,
Andrew Coit,
Liam Dickey,
Bryce Williston,
Henry Hersperger, and
Nolyn Boswell. The Bombers 2V was
Jake Patterson,
Cameron Strong,
Brodie Hart,
Nico Greenberg,
Leo Covello,
Conor Brighton,
Jack Kneale,
Max Spencer,
Cameron Stanford.
Both Ithaca crews started off strong, moving ahead early to the first checkpoint. While some inefficiencies appeared in the latter half of the race, the Bombers maintained their composure and secured victories over their respective opponents.
After a short break, the Bombers returned to the water in mixed lineups for the second session, featuring a varsity A4, varsity B4, and a novice/third varsity eight. As conditions became increasingly blustery, the course was shortened to 3,300 meters. The A4 delivered a strong race from start to finish, while the B4 worked to find a consistent rhythm in the challenging crosswinds. The novice/3V8 capped off the day with an impressive effort, taking the win over Hamilton in tough conditions.
"The team has dealt with some illness and injury leading into this race, which didn't allow us to be at full strength," said head coach
Justin Stangel. "I'm happy with how the team responded—showing resiliency and competitive greatness."
With the fall racing season now complete, the Bombers will turn their attention to winter training as they prepare for the spring championship season.
