ITHACA, N.Y. - An exciting new chapter begins on Sunday when the inaugural season for the Ithaca College women's wrestling program commences. Under the direction of head coach Ryan Ciotoli, the Bombers will get their season underway as Ithaca's 28th varsity sport.
 
The Bombers head to John Carroll to compete in the JCU Round Robin that features 10 teams that are in their infant seasons as a program. Heidelberg and Edinboro join Ithaca as the other first year programs that will step onto the mat for the first time, making history in Cleveland this weekend.
 
Sunday's meet will serve as one of three that the Bombers will wrestle in the month of November. On Nov. 12, the team will host its first ever women's wrestling event with the Ithaca College Invite, which will take place in the Athletics and Events Center.  
 
Ithaca's lone December meet will be filled with tough competition from across the region at the New Standard Invitational, hosted by York College on Saturday, December 6. It will mark the final competition of the 2025 calendar year before six duals, and two tournaments spotlight the docket during January and February.
 
The Bombers will head to the Quad Cities Division III National Invitational Feb. 7-8, where some of the top teams gather as one final tune-up before regional competition.
 
IC kicks off its first season with nine women ready to pioneer the program. The team features seven first years and a pair of seniors that will set the standard for the future.
 
The 2025-26 season marks the first where women's wrestling is recognized as an NCAA sanctioned sport. On Feb. 20-21, the Bombers will compete in the NCAA Region II Tournament with a shot to punch tickets to the NCAA Championship meet, held the first weekend of March in Coralville, Iowa.
