ITHACA, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 8 Ithaca College women's lacrosse team will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Division III Championships this weekend, May 11-12, at Higgins Stadium. Ithaca (17-1) will play the winner of Shenandoah University (14-4) and SUNY Canton (13-5) in the second round.

THE 2024 NCAA DIVISION III WOMEN'S LACROSSE CHAMPIONSHIP:
The 2024 championship consists 46 schools from 32 automatic bids, 13 Pool-C at-large selections and one Pool-B at-large bid. Fourteen first round games will be played on May 10-11, followed by 16 on May 11-12. Advancing teams will move onto four regional sites on May 18-19, and those winners will play in the national semifinals and final on May 24 and 26 in Salem, Va.
ITHACA IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT:
The Bombers will be making the program's 15th all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Bombers have won seven games in the NCAA Tournament, including at least one in each of the past five trips (2016, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2022). Ithaca also hosted the opening rounds in 2022.
ITHACA VS. THE NCAA FIELD:
IC went 5-1 against common opponents in this year's field. The Bombers defeated Scranton (13-9), Cortland (11-10), St. John Fisher (13-11) and William Smith twice (16-3 and 11-10). IC's lone loss of the season and to the field was against Trinity (Conn.), 20-10.

The Bombers won their first Liberty League title last Sunday to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship. Ithaca is 7-14 all-time in the NCAA Tournament. The Bombers are ranked No. 8 in the country and will carry a 14-game winning streak into Sunday's contest against Shenandoah or Canton.
Maizy Veitch leads Ithaca in points with 84 and assists with 33, while her 51 goals are second on the team. She is also just three points shy from tying Ithaca's career points record of 272. Within the Liberty League, Veitch was tied for first in points, fourth in assists and sixth in goals.
Sydney Phillips is tops on the team with 53 goals this season and ranks second with 61 points.
Caroline Wise has 165 draw wins on the season and ranks fifth in Division III in draws per game at 10.31. Along with that, Wise tallied 29 goals, 31 assists, 34 ground balls and 19 caused turnovers this year.
Lily Cody ranks third on the team with 41 goals, first with 24 caused turnovers, second in ground balls with 30 and draw controls with 56.
Lexi Kellish has added 21 goals and 10 assists on the season, to go along with 37 draw controls, 17 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers.
Defensively,
Maggie Mandel contributed 17 caused turnovers and 12 ground balls and
Kaitlyn Russell has 21 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers.
Lexi Held has been solid in cage for 18 starts as she owns a 8.96 GAA, .513 save percentage and 163 saves. Held reached 500 career saves in the Liberty League final and has logged 10 or more saves in eight games this season.

The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team earned a Pool-C bid into the 2024 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament.
The No. 23 Hornets, ranked fourth in Region V, are making their first appearance in the tournament after a program-record 14-win season, which included three wins over teams nationally ranked or receiving votes.
The Hornets, led by head coach Lindsey Lutz, made the ODAC Semifinals for the seventh straight full season. Four different players have at least 30 goals this year and five players have at least 30 points.
Ainsley Buckner leads the Hornets in goals (52), assists (27), and points (79), the senior also has a team-high 94 draw controls. Emily Lerch enters the NCAA Tournament with 39 points, consisting of 24 goals and a career-high 15 assists. She also has 20 caused turnovers with 45 draws and 24 ground balls.
Madison Re has put up 32 goals and 10 assists so far this season, along with two game-winning goals. Julianna Fohner forced 16 turnovers this season and leads the team with 36 ground balls. Fohner got involved up the field as well, collecting six draw controls while adding a goal and assist to her slate.
Madison Perry has started in 15 games so far this season, stopping 109 shots, and has double-digit wins.

The Roos qualified for their fourth NCAA Tournament in program history by winning their fourth North Atlantic Conference (NAC) championship defeating SUNY Morrisville 20-6 on Sunday, May 5th.
Leading the Roos
The Roos have been led this season by the two-pronged attack of
Samantha Dayter and
Maddy Caron. The duo has combined for 195 points as Dayter led the way with 101 points (52G, 49A) with Caron right on her heels with 94 points (72G, 22A).
Lindsey Wunder has had a strong season with 65 points on 36 goals and 29 assists, while
Caroline Nappi (36G, 10A, 46P) and
Morgan Montgomery (20G, 13A, 33P) have also been effective offensively.
Caron leads the Roos in draw controls (119), ground balls (54) and caused turnovers (28).
Aayliah White has also stepped up this season posting 38 ground balls and 35 draw controls.
Olivia Scott has spent a majority of time between the pipes posting a 12-5 record with a .500 save % and 9.42 goals against average.
