BETHEL, Ohio – The Ithaca College women's rowing team saw both its 1V8 and 2V8 boats earn respective places into the NCAA Championship Grand Final on Saturday from Harsha Lake. Both boats finished third in the morning heats and were relegated to the afternoon repechage. The repechage is a second chance race where the top two finishing crews qualify for the grand final. Due to strong winds on the course, the reps were moved from 4PM to 6PM. The delay paid off as conditions for racing were extremely better.

The Bombers second varsity eight lineup beginning with the coxswain

Julia DiCostanzo. They began their day with a third-place finish in the heat (7:51.1) that was won by Tufts with a time of 7:22.2. The afternoon repechage was a key race for this crew with the top two boats advancing to the grand final. Ithaca put on a great performance finishing out in front of Puget Sound and St. Mary's to qualify. IC finished second behind Smith (7:29.330) with a final time of 7:44.303.

Emma Hammel. In the morning heat, Ithaca was out rowed in the second 1000, finishing third behind Wesleyan and Trinity. Ithaca's time was 7:15.7. In the afternoon repechage, the Bombers had a great battle with Smith, racing side by side for the full 2000 meters. Both Ithaca, with a time of 7.10.8 along with Smith College (7:12.4) will race in tomorrow's Grand Final.
The two Grand Finals are slated for Saturday as the second varsity eight begins at 9:56 a.m. while the varsity 8 will begin at 10:28 a.m. from Harsha Lake. Ithaca will be competing for the national championship alongside Wesleyan, Trinity, Williams, Tufts and Smith College.
