WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – Both the Ithaca College men's rowing first varsity eight as well as the second varsity eight were both in action in Friday's preliminary heats of the IRA Division III National Championships that took place out on Mercer Lake. The Bombers 1V8 earned a spot into the petite finals after racing hard and finishing fourth in their heat and with their strong finish the 2V8 earned a place into the grand finals tomorrow at 10:50 a.m.
The Bombers 1V8 lineup on Friday consisted of
Miles Kenaston,
Rhys Pellaton,
Riley Maynard,
Wesley Hoglin,
Griffin Hunt,
James Ross,
Bryce Williston,
Max Detzer and
Marshall Adams as they competed in the second of two heats. The crew from Williams College got off to a great start and led from start-to-finish with a time of 5:56.196 as IC was in the fifth lane and finished fourth with a time of 6:13.932 as they were just over two seconds slower than the third-place crew from Coast Guard.
The Bombers were in the sixth lane and they squared off against Williams, Tufts, Wesleyan, Trinity and Bates in the 2V8 heat with the crew from Williams College posting the top time of 6:04.302. Ithaca posted a time of 6:16.568 and with that earned a place into the grand finals on Saturday. The IC lineup was
