MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Ithaca College men's track & field team concluded its 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium on May 23 with five points to finish in a tie for 16th after the opening day of competition.
Dom Mikula, the defending national champion in the event, entered as the No. 11 seed at 4.95 meters (16' 2.75") as finished fourth overall at 4.99 meters (16' 4.5"). Mikula secures his eighth career All-America honor and fifth during the outdoor season.
He cleared 4.54 and 4.69 meters on his first try and then surpassed 4.84 meters on his second attempt. Mikula then breezed through 4.94 and 4.99 meters on his first run to move into the top five. He missed on all three ties at 5.04 meters.
Brendan Sheehan finished in a tie for 14th overall to earn another USTFCCCA Second Team All-American honor this season. Sheehan entered at the initial height of 4.54 meters and cleared the bar on his first attempt. He then surpassed 4.69 meters (15' 4.5") on his second run, but his championship came to an end at 4.84 meters.
Sheehan qualified for the championship with the 20th-best mark at 4.87 meters (15' 11.75") and made a significant jump in the national event as four entries did not clear a height to trim the field down to 17 heading to the second bar.
