ITHACA, N.Y. – Following the end of the 2024 season, the Ithaca College softball team landed five players on the end of the year All-Liberty League teams as they were voted on by the conference's eight head coaches. The Bombers saw
Haley Petrucci,
Anna Cornell and
Sela Scheinman claimed spots on the first team while both
Elise Waddington and
Sydney Miranda earned spots on the second team.
In her third season with the Bombers,
Anna Cornell totaled 23 appearances in the circle, including 21 starts and 15 complete games where she posted a 1.76 ERA with a conference-best 206 strikeouts. Cornell posted a 13-8 where she tossed a career-high 131.1 innings. She tossed her first career no-hitter against Nazareth where also striking out 13, Cornell notched a season-high 21 punchouts across 10 innings in a 4-2 loss. Her 206 strikeouts were the third most in a single season in IC program history.
Haley Petrucci had a breakout season for the Bombers and turned herself into one of the most feared bats within the Liberty League. Petrucci slugged a Liberty League best 12 homers, which is tied for 16
th within NCAA Division III and she finished tied with head coach
Kelly Robichaud for the third most in a single season. The sophomore catcher hit a team-best .377 where she also had the most RBI (33) and scored 25 runs, while stealing four bases on the season. She defended her position well finishing with a .993 fielding percentage and totaled 264 putouts.
Junior
Sela Scheinman earned her second-straight All-Liberty League first team selection as she transitioned to shortstop this season and ended up starting all 40 games for the Bombers. Scheinman slashed a career-best .333 during the 2024 season where she had 12 doubles, a pair of homers and drove in 20 RBI. She finished third on the team scoring 27 runs and stole a team-high 16 bases.
Both
Elise Waddington and
Sydney Miranda each made an immediate impact during their first years on the IC campus. Waddington was one of four student-athletes to start in all 40 games where she batted .441 on a team-high 45 hits, including 13 doubles and three homers. She finished the season with 32 RBI and also scored 28 runs during her debut season for the Bombers.
Miranda really came on especially during the Liberty League portion of the schedule and finished with a .356 batting average which was third best on squad. Overall, she totaled 32 hits, including five doubles and a triple and drove in 12 RBI.
Ithaca College finished the season with a 26-14 overall record and reached the 20-win plateau for 30
th consecutive full season. The Bombers placed third during the Liberty League regular season with a 9-5 mark and also placed third in the Liberty League tournament.
