FLANDERS, N.J. – The Ithaca College golf team returned to action after nearly a month off as the Bombers traveled to Drew University to play a two-round event at the Flanders Valley Golf Course on April 5-6. Ithaca finished second overall out of 10 teams with a two-day total of 649 (+73) and
Cristea Park was the top individual performer with 150 (+6).
Hamilton College won the team title by 10 strokes with 639 (+63). The Bombers were eight strokes ahead of Southern Virginia for third place with 657 (+81). A total of 56 golfers were in action over the weekend.
After Friday's opening round, Ithaca was tied with Hamilton at 324 (+36), but the Continentals pulled away on Saturday as three of their golfers shot below 80 on the day.
Park shot the low round of the tournament on Friday with a one-over 73 to match her career-best score. She went out one-over after carding back-to-back birdies on the seventh and eighth holes and shot par on the back nine with another birdie on the 17th. On Saturday, she fired a 77 with birdies on the fifth and 16th holes.
Annika Michel tied for eighth with 163 (+19) as she shot rounds of 81 and 82. Michel had two birdies on the weekend, one coming on each day, as she birdied the 14th on Friday and seventh on Saturday.
Helena Winterberg finished in a tie for 10th with 164 (+20) with rounds of 83 and 81. Winterberg birdied the 17th during Friday's round and the sixth on Saturday.
Rheanna DeCrow placed 19th with 172 (+28) as she carded 87 and 85. DeCrow had one birdie on the weekend with a four on the par-5 second on Friday.
Abby Bladen finished 25th with a two-round total of 179 (+35) as she carded rounds of 93 and 86.
Kerry Farrell was 34th as an individual with 195 (+51) after rounds of 103 and 92. Farrell finished the weekend with four pars.
The Bombers are back in action on April 13-14 at the Martin-Wallace Invitational at Cortland.
