4/1/2024 12:21:00 PM

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's rowing program opened its spring 2024 season on Saturday hosting Hobart, Hamilton College and Marietta College on the Cayuga Inlet. It was a good day of racing as they competed in a duel format for most events and a highlight was drone operators created a great view of the races for those not able to be on site and can be viewed here.

A stiff north wind made for a cold day and challenging conditions.  While the start line is fairly protected at the top of the flood control channel. Crews racing in the first few races of the morning were facing white caps beyond the finish line. The 1V was the first race of the day as the line-up consisted of Miles Kenaston, Rhys Pellaton, Riley Maynard, Bryce Williston, James Ross, Griffin Hunt, Wesley Hoglin, Nolyn Boswell and Max Detzer. In their first duel against Hobart, it was the Statesmen who were able to pull away towards the finish line finishing with a time of 6:45.2 compared to IC's 6:53.6.

They returned to action later on in the day squaring off against Hamilton College who just edged out the Bombers 1V putting together a time of 6:49.1, compared to 6:51.9 as it was neck and neck pretty much going all the way to the finish line.

The 2V eight had a solid race and finished 2nd in a three-boat race. Hobart was first with a time of 7:03.6, followed by Ithaca who put together a time of 7:09.3 and Hamilton followed at 7:24.8. The Ithaca student-athletes in Saturday's 2V included: Caroline Grass, Marshall Adams, Ethan Revis, Caleb Grassi, Nico Greenberg, Brodie Hart, Tynan Fields, Jonah Alefantis and Maxwell Vallino.

IC will return to action on Saturday, April 6 when it hosts RIT and the University of Rochester back on the Cayuga Inlet for a 10 a.m. start.
