ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Junior
Kailee Payne followed up on winning the 1-meter with an even better performance on Saturday as she was also crowned champion on the 3-meter boards at RIT after besting the field at the 2024 NCAA Division III Region IV Diving Championships. Payne has now stacked together back-to-back impressive weeks after she won both events at the Liberty League Championships, she was able to win Saturday's 3-meter event by over 22 points over teammate
Abby Marraccino.
Payne had the highest dive difficulty of the 18 divers competing and she put together an 11 dive total of 475.95 to win the Regional Championship.
Abby Marraccino finished in second place as she totaled a finals score of 453.25 and scoring a fourth-place result was
Angela Burke (427.25).
Also competing in the 3-meter event for the Bombers was
Jenell Slesser who was able to total a score of 401.50, which was good for 10th and right behind her was teammate
Audrey Scott who totaled a finals score of 393.65. Sophomore
Eliza Salus put together an 11 dive total of 364.35, which place her in 18th.
The men competed on the 1-meter boards and the Ithaca men's swimming & diving program had both
Kian Long and
Ethan Godfrey competing. SUNY Geneseo's Trent Makowec impressed as he won the event with a finals score of 538.10. The Bombers top finisher was
Ethan Godfrey who was in eighth as he totaled a 433.60 and
Kian Long came in 15th place totaling a 387.95.
The NCAA will officially announce all national qualifiers on Monday. The NCAA Division III Championships will once again take place in Greensboro, N.C. as this year the meet will begin on Wednesday, March 20.
