GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Ithaca College men's swimming & diving team was back in action on the second day of the 2024 NCAA Division III Championships as both the 200-yard freestyle relay team and 400-yard medley relay squad competed inside the Greensboro Aquatic Center on Thursday.
Reigning Liberty League and Regional Champion Kailee Payne continued her impressive junior season as going into the evening finals and after prelims, Payne ranked first with a score of 468.45 and made the most of her voluntaries getting a total of 189.45 going into the final round which featured the most difficult dives for each finalist.
Both relay squads consisted of
Matthew Mitros,
James Collishaw,
Alec Kutsner and
Michael Paulos as they first competed in the 200-yard freestyle relay as the scored a 20
th place finish overall recording a time of 1:22.69.
In the 400-yard medley relay the Bombers finished 21
st in the preliminaries with a time of 3:20.68. The relay squad from Kenyon ended up winning the National Championship with a new D3 record time of 3:09.78.
James Collishaw will compete in the 10 a.m. prelims on Friday of the 100-yard backstroke as he earned himself a qualification for the race with a time of 48.89 at 10 a.m. with the event expected to begin at 10:26 a.m.
