ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Competition was ultra-competitive on the 1-meter diving boards as there were 19 divers competing in the NCAA Division III Region IV as the Bombers had six divers from the Ithaca College women's program in action competing in the 1-meter event during the evening session.
Junior
Kailee Payne headlined the day for the Bombers as she followed up her record-breaking performances a week ago at the 2024 Liberty League Championships as she bested the field on Friday in pretty convincing fashion. With one of the highest degree of difficulties in her 11 dive total at 23.60, Payne was able to total a finals score of 477.50, that edged out Alexa Rizzo from Nazareth who totaled an 11-dive total of 441.65.
The next best finisher for the Bombers and coming in fourth place was
Abby Marraccino who put together a finals score of 438.90 and likely also earning a berth to nationals with her seventh-place finish and total score of 406.60, was
Angela Burke.
Also competing for IC and finishing in 10
th place was
Audrey Scott who put together an 11 dive total of 393.55, coming in 12th place was
Jenell Slesser (391.20) and putting together a strong effort in 15
th was
Eliza Salus who totaled a finals score of 379.30.
The male divers will wrap up the regional competition tomorrow with the 1-meter board and the women will also compete tomorrow, but on the 3-meter board. The regional allocation for the women is usually around seven who will be sent to compete in the NCAA Championships. Saturday's NCAA regional competition will resume at 12 p.m.
