ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College gymnastics team produced its best meet of the season on Sunday, February 4 in Ben Light Gymnasium with a 192.050-189.175 victory over Springfield. IC was just .275 points shy from matching the program record, however, the Bombers did set a new school record on the floor with 48.825 to surpass the previous record of 48.775 set back in 2019.
The Bombers, as usual for a home meet, opened on vault and shined with a 48.100 to take a commanding lead as Springfield earned 46.650 on bars. Four gymnasts scored over 9.600 as
Grace Murray led the way with 9.775.
Jillian Freyman and
Lauren Babineaux were each awarded 9.675, while
Caitlin Pellegrino was awarded 9.600.
Cassidy Gallivan got the rotation underway with 9.375 and
Hana Miller received 9.000.
IC and Springfield flipped events for the second rotation and the Bombers earned 46.875 on bars. Springfield cut its deficit down to .875 (94.975 to 94.100) with 47.450 on vault.
Kaylie Goodwin was the top performer on bars with 9.600, while Babineaux scored 9.550.
Skye Cohen turned in 9.450 and
Marlena Bailey received 9.375. Miller and
Coral Cotteleer also competed on bars with 8.900 and 8.475.
For the third rotation, the Bombers moved over to beam and put together their best showing of the meet with 48.250 to take a near two-point lead into the final rotation, 143.225-141.500. Three Bombers scored over 9.775, led by Pellegrino's 9.825, which just missed tying the school record of 9.850.
Emily Kobusky earned 9.800 and Freyman was shown 9.775.
Abby Chesshire turned in 9.575 to begin the event, while
Corey Foster received 9.275 and Goodwin had 9.125.
The meet finished up with IC on floor and Springfield on beam. Ithaca dazzled in all six routines as each gymnast scored over 9.500 en route to the school record score of 48.825. Murray and Chesshire led the way with 9.850, while
Corey Foster earned 9.750. Pellegrino turned in a routine of 9.700 and Freyman scored 9.675. Gallivan got the Bombers off to a solid start with 9.500.
Ithaca will stay close to home next weekend, February 11, as the Bombers travel over to Cornell.
