CANTON, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's track & field team opened competition at the Liberty League Indoor Championships hosted by St. Lawrence University on Friday inside Newell Field House and finished up the day in fifth place with 17 points.
Brendan Sheehan earned a majority of Ithaca's points on the day as he finished second in the pole vault and third in the long jump. Sheehan tied the top mark of 5.00 meters (16' 4.75") in the pole vault to move into a tie for fifth in the country, but placed second due to attempts. He measured out 6.74 meters (22' 1.5") in the long jump and was just a centimeter from second place.
IC's distance medley relay team of
Ben Buffone,
Adam Mocho,
Carter Rothwell and
Patrick Bierach finished sixth overall with a time of 10:39.37.
Matt Lokshin and
Noah McKibben competed in the first day of the heptathlon and sit in fourth and sixth after four events. Lokshin has 2272 points, while McKibben has 2166 points.
Day Two gets underway at 11 a.m. tomorrow.
