Kailee Payne Resets all Four Geneseo Pool Records; Also Breaks the IC Six Dive 3-meter School Record

GENESEO, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's and women's diving teams were in action competing at the Geneca Diving Invitational against host SUNY Geneseo on Saturday, and for junior Kailee Payne it turned out to be a record-breaking afternoon. Payne's overall performance saw her reset all four of the Geneseo Alumni pool records with her six dive totals in the 1-meter and 3-meter as well as her marks for the 11-dives. Her six-dive total of 331.35 also proved to be an Ithaca school record.
 
On the 1-meter boards, Kailee Payne ended up winning by over 11 total points as she put together an 11-dive total of 498.45. Abby Marraccino was second putting together a finals score of 487.10 followed by Audrey Scott (457.75), Angela Burke (439.05) and Jenell Slesser (434.45). Payne came out of the gates with several strong dives as her total of 308.70 ended up as a Geneseo Alumni pool record.
 
In men's action, divers first competed on the 1-meter boards as SUNY Geneseo's Trent Makowiec set a new pool, school, and SUNYAC conference mark for 11 dives with a score of 600.45. The top finisher for the Bombers was Ethan Godfrey who finished in fourth putting together an 11-dive total of 471.85. Makowiec was also impressive on the 3-meter boards as he bested the competition putting together a finals score of 602.80 and Godfrey was also the top IC finisher once again coming in fourth (481.85).
 
Kailee Payne was on the top of her game on the 3-meter boards as she initially reset a pool record with her six dive total of 331.35 and she ended up surpassing the 500 mark with her final 11-dive total of 532.70. Once again finishing in second was Abby Marraccino who totaled a finals score of 514.80, and in third was Jenell Slesser (471.70) followed by Audrey Scott (467.70).
 
Ithaca hosts the Liberty League Swimming & Diving Championships from February 21-24 at Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium.
