ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's swimming & diving team not only maintained its team lead through the second day of the Bomber Invitational collecting 955.5 team points to lead Middlebury College (854.5), but
Kailee Payne also surpassed both a team and pool record on the 3-meter diving boards with a finals score of 560.0 .
The Bombers scored a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with
Elke Beaumont,
Angela Merch,
Jillian Wedding and
Spencer Carroll teaming up with a combined time of 1:37.69, which was just behind Middlebury's 1:36.39 and Rochester's 1:37.15.
Elizabeth Bodie won the "A" final of the 200-yard butterfly with the first year touching the final with a recorded time of 2:07.39. It reset her own program record that she set earlier in the season. The 200-yard freestyle saw
Samantha Bender finish in third with a time of 1:55.17 and coming home in fifth and sixth respectively, were
Angela Merch (1:57.23) and
Naomi Fry (1:57.31).
The top Bomber finisher in the 100-yard breaststroke was
Sydney Koehler who was third with a time of 1:06.06. The winner of the event was Ariana Pasquella from Rochester with Ithaca's
Emma Kidd also finishing sixth at 1:08.03. The "A" final of the 100-yard backstroke saw an exciting finish with
Elizabeth Bodie tying for fourth place with a time of 59.43 seconds as Middlebury's Izzy Penntony also touched the wall at the same time.
Elke Beaumont earned IC 22 team points with her eighth-place finish and time of 1:00.13.
Kathleen Papiernik scored the Bombers 26 more team points with her fourth-place finish in the 400-yard IM and Caroline Weppler was seventh with a finals time of 4:45.04. In the fastest event of the entire meet,
Spencer Carroll (24.41) and
Samantha Bender (24.50) finished fourth and fifth respectively, in the 50-yard freestyle. Anna McGrew of Middlebury won the "A" final recording a time of 23.51.
In the final event of the evening the Bombers raced to a third-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay as the "B" squad also finished fifth.

Elke Beaumont,
Emma Kidd,
Elizabeth Bodie and
Naomi Fry put together a fifth place finish and time of 3:59.69.
The invitational will resume at 9 a.m. with prelims in the 500-yard freestyle the 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard breaststroke, 100-yard freestyle and the 200-yard IM with the finals taking place in the evening at 6 p.m. Diving will get underway at 12:30 p.m. with the women competing on the 1-meter boards with the finals also taking place at 6 p.m. along with the 400-yard freestyle relay.
