CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Ithaca College women's rowing team and the first varsity eight was in action on Sunday afternoon competing in the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta. The regatta is notorious for its tough course, with a 90 degree turn through The Weeks Bridge in the middle of the race, as well as a sweeping, near 180 degree turn into the Eliot bridge. The course is lengthy, lasting around 4700 meters, depending on how the coxswain takes the turns.
The Bombers finished in the top third placing 13
th out of 34 boats in the collegiate eights race. The Ithaca first varsity eight boat consisted of coxswain
Caroline Hoskins along with
Lily Babcock,
Emma Hammel,
Maggie Farber,
Zoe Paradis Stern,
Ashley Bailey,
Anna Capodilupo,
Samantha Gallagher and
Julia DiCostanzo. They posted a time of 18:02.830, which was the fastest among Liberty League schools.
Tufts University was the race winner in 17:02.698 followed by runner-up Wesleyan University (17:10.584) and Williams College (17:14.585) in third place.
Next up, the Bombers will row in the Head of the Fish Regatta on Fish Creek in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., on Saturday, Oct. 26.
