Men’s Rowing Competes in the Head of the Charles Regatta

10/21/2024 10:44:00 AM

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Ithaca College men's rowing team opening the 2024-25 season this past weekend competing at the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta. The Bombers had a boat entered in the men's collegiate eight.

The Bombers finished with a time of 17:39.833, finishing 41st out of 42 boats. The boat was compromised of Riley Maynard, Rhys Pellaton, Liam Baker, Griffin Hunt, Andrew Cheely, James Pittard, Brennen Mone, Bryce Williston and coxswain was Miles Kenaston. The race started well enough, maybe a little conservative in the first third but the Bombers were making up ground to the boat ahead and were mid-pack with the first timing point. After the Weeks turn, IC got caught by the crew behind and were working to make the pass on the crew ahead, causing three boats to try and get through the Anderson bridge. The Bombers crew did not make it through unscathed, making hard contact with the boat they were trying to pass. They were able to get it going again on the outside of the Elliott turn where they again got pushed wide by the same crew, had to adjust coming into Elliott Bridge and had to make another full stop in that area before making the final push to the finish.

The varsity eight reached the finish line in a time of 17:39.833. The Bombers posted a split of 3:32.504 at Riverside, reached Weld in 8:32.910, arrived at CBC in 13:13.430 and took 3:01.403 from there to the finish line.

Ithaca will close out the 2024 fall season on Saturday, October 26 when it competes in the Head of the Fish in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. at 9 a.m.
