GREENSBORO, N.C. – Both the Ithaca College men's and women's swimming & diving teams continued action at the final day of the 2023 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday, March 18. The men's team saw a program record during the morning preliminary races as junior
James Collishaw put together an impressive performance in the 100-yard freestyle.
Overall, the Bomber men finished in 36
th place while the women's program placed 14
th overall with 69 team points.
James Collishaw showed off his pace, setting a program record with a 10
th place finish in his respective heat of the morning prelims putting together a time of 44.46. This was the start of an outstanding day for Collishaw as he reset his own record in the evenings consolation finals. The Bethesda, Md., native put together a 10
th place finish, which was good for Second Team All-America status, while also re-breaking his program record from the morning with a time of 44.09.
The women's program saw both
Emily VanderSleen and
Jane Pfeufer also compete in the 100 freestyle with VanderSleen finishing 51
st overall with a time of 52.86 and Pfeufer was just behind her in 53
rd with a recorded time of 52.89.
First year
Sonia Mlakar competed in the 34
th overall event of the NCAA Championships, the 200-yard backstroke as she finished in 28
th place with a time of 2:04.09.
Both programs 400-yard freestyle relay teams were also in action as on the women's side Mlakar, Pfeaufer, VanderSleen and
Katie Champagne teamed up for a 28
th place finish with a recorded time of 3:32.98.
Collishaw,
Ben Young,
Matthew Johnston and
Matthew Mitros competed in the men's 400 relays as they finished in 3:03.90, which was good for 21
st overall.
