GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Ithaca College women's swimming & diving program saw three student-athletes earn All-American status on Saturday, which was the third day of the NCAA Championships.
First year
Sonia Mlakar qualified for her first individual consolation final at the NCAA's as she competed in the 100-yard backstroke. In the morning prelims she put together a 12
th place finish with a recorded time of 56.04 and that set the stage of the evening's finals.
Mlakar gained herself Second Team All-American honors finishing 15
th overall with her consolation finals time of 56.49.
The women's divers were back in action on Friday as
Rachel Lange,
Abby Marraccino,
Karalyn Pawcio and
Leah Levin all competed on the 1-meter boards. Marraccino finished in 20
th with a preliminaries total of 365.65 and
Rachel Lange just about qualified for the consolation finals with a 17
th place finish in the preliminary's totaling a score of 376.80.
Both
Leah Levin and
Karalyn Pawcio guaranteed themselves First Team All-America honors after their prelims qualified them for the championship finals.
Leah Levin finished third overall she was just over four points behind the winner Sydney Blestein (431.40), as the sophomore scored a 427.65. Finishing in fifth-place was
Karalyn Pawcio who had a finals score of 418.50.
The fourth and final day of the 2023 NCAA Championships is on Saturday with swimmers competing in the 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 200-yard breaststroke, 400-yard freestyle relays and male divers will compete on the 3-meter boards. Morning preliminaries begin at 10 a.m.
