USA LACROSSE MAGAZINE ALL-AMERICANS

The quadrant of the bracket features 11 All-Americans as announced by USA Lacrosse Magazine on May 12. Tufts and Franklin & Marshall each boast four All-Americans, while Ithaca has three.

ITHACA VS. THE OPPOSITON

The Bombers have not played any of their potential three opponents this season.

IC has played Franklin & Marshall six times dating back to 1983, with the Diplomats owning the all-time series, 5-1. Ithaca's lone win came in 1996 on a 19-14 final score. The last time IC and F&M matched up was in 2016 – a 15-5 win for the Diplomats.

Ithaca has never played Tufts or Pomona-Pitzer.

SCOUTING THE JUMBOS

Tufts rolled into the third round with a 20-5 victory over No. 13 St. Lawrence last Sunday, May 15. The Jumbos are 16-3 this season and NESCAC champions after defeating previously unbeaten and No. 1 Middlebury, 9-8, which ended the Panthers' 42- game winning streak.

The Jumbos are ranked fifth nationally in save percentage .559, led by Molly Laliberty's .551 save percentage and 150 saves. The stinginess in goal directly correlates to the nation's 11th-best scoring defense at 7.05 goals per game.

Tufts has only surrendered double-digit goals three times all season – 14 to Middlebury, 11 to Wesleyan and 10 to Bowdoin.

Tufts averages 14.8 goals per game and is led by Margie Carden, who has 56 goals on the season. Caroline Water is second on the squad with 35 goals, while Anna Clarke is third with 33.

Clarke also paces the Jumbos with 99 draw controls, while Madison Lehan is tops on the team with 36 ground balls and 28 caused turnovers.

SCOUTING THE DIPOLMATS

Franklin & Marshall found its way to this weekend with a second round defeat of Stevenson, 20-6. F&M was an at-large selection to the tournament after falling to then-No. 6 Gettysburg in the Centennial Conference title game.

The Diplomats rank within the top 20 nationally in four different categories – assists per game (8.0), shots per game (35.8), winning percentage (.850) and turnovers per game (14.2). F&M is also 27th in scoring margin (7.4) and 28th in scoring defense (8.0).

Emily Kitchin is also one of the top goalies in Division III as she ranks 22nd in save percentage at .517 and 28th in goals-against average at 8.27. Kitchin also has 51 ground balls and 24 caused turnovers this season.

Ally Marino has 82 points on the season for F&M behind 55 goals and 27 assists. Lydia Cassilly is close behind with 71 points on 43 goals and 28 assists.

Madison Bray has 97 draws on the season, while Mary Pat McKenna leads the Diplomats with 26 caused turnovers.

SCOUTING THE BOMBERS

The Bombers are playing in the third round for the second consecutive season after a 19-9 victory against Cabrini last weekend at home – the first NCAA game played in Ithaca since 1993.

IC is a top 25 program in six different statistically categories, most notably fifth in draw controls per game at 18.4. The Bombers also rank 15th in scoring offense (16.8), 16th in winning percentage (.850), 21st in shots per game (35.2), 23rd in scoring margin (7.95) and 23rd in shots on goal per game (26.5).

The dominance in draw controls is all due to the nation's best draw specialist in Caroline Wise, who has 192 draws on the year, ranking her fifth all-time in Division III history. Wise averages 10.7 draws per contest.

IC's offense is led by Maizy Veitch (69 goals, 31 assists), who eclipsed 100 points this season in the game against Cabrini. Megan Motkowski is second on the team with 71 points on 51 goals and 20 assists, while Madison Boutureira is third with 41 goals and 23 assists.

Rachel Rosenberg is a lockdown defender for IC as she has 47 ground balls and 37 turnovers on the season, to go along with 83 draws.

SCOUTING THE SAGEHENS

The Sagehens are the only undefeated team remaining in Division III with an 18-0 record. Pomona-Pitzer has won 14 games by 10 or more goals this season.

Pomona-Pitzer ranks first nationally in assists per game (12.5), points per game (31.9) and scoring margin (13.6). The Sagehens are also third in scoring defense (5.8), scoring offense (19.4) and turnovers per game (12.5).

Thirteen different players for Pomona-Pitzer have scored 10 or more goals on the season.

Emily Vomvas is the nation's second-best goalie in GAA at 6.1, while Shoshi Henderson is second in assists per game at 5.1 and third in total assists with 90. Henderson is also seventh in points per game at 7.4 and 10th in total points with 132.

Fiona Lewis leads Pomona-Pitzer with 50 goals, while Kate Immergluck is first in draws with 68 and ground balls with 33. Maggie Sweeney is first in caused turnovers with 22.
