ITHACA, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 10 Ithaca College women's lacrosse team will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship on Saturday and Sunday at Higgins Stadium. The Bombers will match up against the winner of Saturday's game between No. 22 Haverford and Cabrini at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 15.
NCAA First Round – Saturday, May 14 – 1 p.m.

THE 2022 NCAA DIVISION III WOMEN'S LACROSSE CHAMPIONSHIP:
The 2022 championship consists of
46 teams from 32 automatic bids, 13 Pool C at-large selections and one Pool B at-large institution. Fourteen first round games will be played on May 14, followed by 16 on May 15. Advancing teams will move onto four regional sites on May 21-22, and those winners will play in the national semifinals and final on May 28-29 in Salem, Va.
ITHACA IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT:
The Bombers will be making their 14th all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament, and fifth in the last seven seasons. IC has won six NCAA Championship games, which includes five victories over the Bombers' last four trips to the tournament. Last season, IC reached the third round after defeated Notre Dame (Md.) and then-No. 2 Washington & Lee.
ITHACA VS. THE NCAA FIELD:
IC went 3-3 against common opponents in this year's field. The Bombers secured wins over St. Lawrence (18-9), Cortland (11-6) and St. John Fisher (13-6). Ithaca's three losses came against William Smith (14-13 and 12-11) and St. Lawrence (17-16).
ITHACA VS. THE POD:
IC has played Cabrini once – a 9-8 win in 1999. The Bombers have also played Haverford twice – a 14-6 loss in 1998 and 9-7 win in 1999.
SCOUTING THE BOMBERS – AT-LARGE FROM THE LIBERTY LEAGUE:

IC posted an overall record of 16-3 this season to set a new school record for wins. The Bombers played one of the toughest schedules in all of Division III and went 9-3 against regionally ranked opponents with an opponents' strength of schedule at .598. All three of IC's losses this season were by one goal.
The Bombers are one of the top scoring offenses in Division III, averaging 16.6 goals per game through 19 contests. IC is also one of the best at possessing the ball as the Bombers win and average of 18 draws per game, ranking within the top 10.
Caroline Wise is the main reason for IC's top 10 ranking in draw controls, as she is the best specialist in the nation, winning more than 10 per game with 179 draws in 17 games played. That translates into one of the best attacks in the nation as
Maizy Veitch leads IC with 65 goals and 29 assists for 94 points on the year.
Joining Veitch on the offensive side are
Megan Motkowski (49 goals, 20 assists, 69 points),
Madison Boutureira (39 G, 22 A, 61 P),
Alexa Ritchie (42 G), Wise (34 G, 12 A, 46 P) and
Sydney Phillips (39 G).
At the defensive end, the Bombers boast one of the nation's best defenders in All-American
Rachel Rosenberg, who has tallied 45 groundballs and 33 caused turnovers on the year. Rosenberg has also won 78 draw controls, and her elite speed that jump starts the offense in transition off clears has resulted in two goals and six assists.
In cage for the Bombers is
Lexi Held, who has posted an overall record of 15-2 in 18 starts. Held has made 130 saves on the season and owns an 8.60 goals-against average in more than 940 minutes of action, which ranks in the top 30 in Division III.

Haverford, ranked No. 22 in the latest IWLCA Poll, earned an at-large bid to the 2022 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championships. The Fords (12-5, 7-2 CC) will be making their first NCAA tournament appearance since 1991.
Haverford will take on an experienced squad in the first round, and one that it is no stranger to, as the sides have played nine times in program history, with the Fords holding an 8-1 edge in that series. The sides met yearly from 2013-2019, with Haverford taking a 21-19 matchup in the last meeting on March 9, 2019 at Swan Field. Haverford has played Ithaca just twice in program history, with the last meeting between the two sides occurring on a neutral site in 1999.
The Fords solidified their position in the field with victories over regionally ranked squads Scranton (No. 9, Region IV), Christopher Newport (No. 5, Region V), and St. Mary's of Maryland (No. 9, Region VI) this season. Haverford has only dropped games to nationally ranked opponents.
SCOUTING THE CAVALIERS – AUTOMATIC BID FROM ATLANTIC EAST CONFERENCE:

Cabrini earned a spot in this year's championship after winning the Atlantic East Conference over Marymount, 19-6. The Cavaliers went undefeated in their conference contests and prepared their program for the NCAA Tournament with non-conference games against Division II Tampa, then-No. 10 TCNJ, Stevens, Rowan and Colorado College.
Cabrini average over 16 goals per game this season, along with more than 20 ground balls, 16 draws and 10 caused turnovers.
The Cavaliers possessed a two-headed attack in Olivia Little and Dana Carlson. Little leads the teal with 105 points and 39 assists, while her 66 goals are second to Carlson. Little is also paces Cabrini with 104 draws, 61 ground balls and 32 caused turnovers. Carlson has 98 points on the season with 75 goals and 23 assists.
Ashley Tutzauder and Shea Neary also factor into the attack with a combined 68 goals on the year. Neary has also tallied 88 draws and 42 ground balls. Caroline Gallagher is a force on defense with 26 caused turnovers and 29 ground balls.
Sam Hamalak is the top goalie for Cabrini with 105 saves and an 11.72 goals-against average.
