th graders to campus where they engaged in a variety of engaging athletic activities with current Ithaca College student-athletes and coaches. Activities throughout the action-packed day included: football, track and field, kickball, field hockey, dodgeball, gymnastics, basketball and swimming.
"This is always a great community engagement event for our student-athletes and GIAC," said
Erienne Roberts, associate director of athletics and senior woman administrator. "Our student-athletes have so much fun, and we always have laughter and smiles full of joy from the GIAC students. In spring 2020, we had to cancel our typical event and last spring we engaged with GIAC virtually. So it truly was good to finally have GIAC back on campus. Over 50 student-athletes spent some portion of their day volunteering, and several coaches lent a hand as well. It's a fun day."
The Greater Ithaca Activities Center (GIAC) is a center for all ages, particularly youth and teens. It serves the immediate neighborhood and the greater Ithaca area by providing multicultural, educational, and recreational programs focused on social and individual development.
