INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Ithaca College women's swimming and diving program officially crowned their fifth-ever individual National Champion as
Ava Lowell won the 3-meter diving competition as part of the final day of the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships. Lowell put together a finals score of 486.45 to be crowned the National Champion on the 3-meter boards.
Ava Lowell put together arguably her best performance to-date during the afternoon 11-dive preliminaries. She put together a score of 473.05, with an average round score of 43.00 to earn the first seed in the championship final on the 3-meter boards. With her qualification, she earned her sixth career All-American honor.
She had a 23.70 cushion over Elizabeth Cron (450.35) of the University of Chicago and Katarina Patalas (Trinity University) ranked third with a score of 443.30 entering the championship round. The IC graduate diver concluded her championship final with a finals score of 486.45.
Rachel Lange earned herself a place in the consolation finals where she finished second and 10
th overall to be named Honorable Mention All-American with a score of 432.85. This was her third All-American honor of her career.
The Bombers also had
Karalyn Pawcio,
Abby Marraccino and
Eliana Wallock competing in the afternoon prelims/quarterfinal. Pawcio finished 17
th with score of 414.65, Marraccino was right behind her finishing 20
th with a score of 410.35.
Eliana Wallock scored a 22
nd place finish with a final score of 398.45.
Ava Lowell concludes her career with six All-American honors and was the second-ever National Champion. Nickie Griesemer was a two-time national champion, who achieved the feat in 2018 was the latest Bomber before her to be crowned a National Champion.
The Bombers totaled 43 team points for the 18th-place team finish at the 2022 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships.
