No. 3 Women’s Lacrosse Runs Away with 11-2 Home Win over Scranton

ITHACA, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 3 Ithaca College women's lacrosse team hosted the University of Scranton on Friday afternoon at Higgins Stadium for IC's home opener and the Bombers came away with an 11-2 no-conference victory to improve to 3-0 on the season.

The Bombers raced out to a 4-0 lead after the first quarter as four different players scored unassisted – Sydney Phillips (10:16), Maizy Veitch (9:29), Madison Boutureira (6:43) and Elizabeth Green (:18). The tally by Green was the first of her career.

Veitch notched IC's fifth goal on the contest with 13:50 remaining in the second quarter to give the Bombers a 5-0 lead heading into intermission.

Alexa Ritchie got the Bombers on the board to start the third quarter as her marker came at the 10:58 mark to extend the disparity to 6-0 on a free position. Scranton then ended its scoreless drought at the 5:19 mark of the third quarter, but IC ran off five straight over the next 12-plus minutes to secure the win.

Ritchie capped the third quarter with her second goal of the day with 1:06 on the clock and then Boutureira scored back-to-back goals just 1:21 apart in the fourth. The hat trick goal for Boutureira was assisted by Rachel Rosenberg.

Veitch put IC into double digits at the 9:17 point of the fourth on her hat trick as Boutureira was in on the assist.

Phillips notched IC's final goal of the contest with 8:45 to play and the Royals ended things with their second goal with 2:15 left.

Lexi Held earned her third win in cage as she stopped 11 shots in 60 minutes.

IC outshot Scranton, 33-22, and won 10-of-16 draws.

Ithaca heads to Babson on March 16 for a 1 p.m. and returns home to play RPI on the 19th at 12 p.m.
