ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's swimming & diving program hosted RIT on Saturday in their final dual of the fall semester as the Bombers came out on top by a 181-118 in Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium.
The Bombers were victorious in the 400-yard freestyle relay with
Jane Pfeufer,
Josephine Holman,
Katie Champagne and
Emily VanderSleen teaming up for the victory with a recorded time of 3:37.83. VanderSleen had an outstanding meet as individually she won the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.16), the 100-yard freestyle (53.91) and was also crowned the champion of the 50-yard freestyle with a finals time of 24.38, which was just about a second faster than Khavy Sangasy.
It was another close race in the 1000-yard freestyle, but first year
Emma Heinze bested five other swimmers to win the event with a time of 11:07.16.
Katie Champagne won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:59.31, which was faster than Sydney DeLapp who finished second (1:59.82).
Jane Pfeufer picked up an individual victory in the 100-yard backstroke as she finished in front of two RIT swimmers with a finals time of 1:01.28.
Caroline Armistead picked up the Bombers nine team points with her first-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly as she finished the event in 2:14.88. In diving action,
Karalyn Pawcio (277.45) won on the 3-meter boards as she bested her teammate
Abby Marraccino (264.50). Pawcio went on to finish second on the 1-meter boards as
Leah Levin bested her teammate by just over 10 points with a finals score of 287.50.
Ithaca will return to action after the Thanksgiving holiday when they host the three-day Bomber Invitational beginning on Friday, December 2.
