ITHACA, N.Y. - The Ithaca College women's swimming and diving team racked up 402 points on the first day of competition at the 10th Annual Bomber Invitational and closed out the day sitting atop the leaderboard. Ithaca has welcomed 10 other collegiate institutions to South Hill as competing this weekend are Hartwick College, Alfred University, Le Moyne College, SUNY Geneseo, Shippensburg University, Smith College, University of Rochester, Nazareth College, Vassar College and Saint Rose College.
Trailing the Bombers in second-place is SUNY Geneseo with 400.5 points, third is the University of Rochester (283 points), rounding out the top-5 is Nazareth College in fourth with 211 team points and Vassar College is in fifth after they totaled 173 points.
The Bombers showed out on the one-meter diving board with four Ithaca divers hitting the one-meter board qualifying standards.
Ava Lowell bested the field with an 11-dive score of 464.15, easily surpassing the qualifying standard of 395. Finishing in fifth-place for the Bombers and also hitting the qualifying standard was
Karalyn Pawcio who finished with a score of 411.55.
Junior
Rachel Lange finished the event in fourth racking up a total of 408.5, while classmate
Eliana Wallock also surpassed the NCAA qualifying standard with her eighth-place finals score of 404.64.
With her fifth-place finish in the evenings opening swimming event,
Morgan Hoffman-Smith produced a season-best time of 5:13.98 and earned her team 25 points in the 500-yard freestyle. Finishing in eight for the Bombers was
Erin Kiley (5:18.79) and rounding out the top-10 was junior
Emily Shorb who touched the final wall in 5:18.79.
In the 200-yard IM,
Katie Champagne was the top IC finisher producing a season-best time of 2:12.37 that was good for fourth. Continuing a theme of season-best times was
Emily VanderSleen achieving the feat in the 50-yard freestyle. She finished just behind Taylor Robey of Nazareth College for a second-place swim in 24.25.

Jane Pfeufer teamed for a third-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. Pfeufer swam anchor and touched the final wall for a time of 1:49.34.
Ithaca is back in action tomorrow morning for the second day of competition at the Bomber Invitational. Swimming is slated to resume at 10 a.m., starting with the 200-yard freestyle relay. That event will be followed by the 400-yard IM, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle and final event of the morning session is the 400-yard medley relay. Diving will then begin at 1 p.m., featuring the women's three-meter and the men's one-meter. After a break in the action, competition will resume in the swimming pool at 6 p.m. with the 200-yard butterfly, 100-yard backstroke, 100-yard breaststroke and the 800-yard freestyle relay.
