Jagoe, Tiber Compete at NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships

LOUISVILLE, Ky. –
Two Ithaca College men's cross country student-athletes made the trip to Louisville, Ky. to compete in the NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday, November 20 at Tom Sawyer State Park.

Pomona-Pitzer won the team championship with 80 points, while MIT came in second with 112. William College took third at 167 and John Carroll placed fourth with 179 points. Wisconsin-Whitewater rounded out the top five with a team score of 201.

Alex Phillip was the top individual runner with a time of 23:27.6, winning the championship by nearly three seconds.

Danny Jagoe and Benjamin Tiber earned bids to the national championship race after stellar performances at the Niagara Regional two weekends ago. On Saturday, Tiber finished 205th overall out of 289 finishers on the 8K course with a time of 25:33.3, while Jagoe followed close behind in 208th in 25:36.5.

Tiber opened the first 1,000 in 203rd after running 3:12.1, while Jagoe was 182nd in 3:11.2. By the 3K checkpoint, Jagoe vaulted up to 159th with a split of 6:08.1 and Tiber dropped back to 226th in a 6:14.2 split. At the midway mark, Jagoe sat at 180th and Tiber was 230th.

Over the final 4K, Tiber kicked it in and pushed forward, ultimately finishing in 205th, moving up 25 spots from the midway point. Jagoe trailed off a touch and dropped 28 positions by the finish line.
