ITHACA, N.Y. - The Ithaca College women's lacrosse game capitalized on the momentum from Senior Day by dominating the Rochester Institute of Technology 19-6 April 27. With the win, IC is 12-5 overall and 8-2 in conference play, while RIT falls to 6-10 overall and 4-6 in conference play.
Before the game started, IC honored its seven seniors —
Reid Simoncini,
Allie Panara,
Erin McGee,
Kaylou Stoddard,
Elizabeth Rice,
Danika Wagener and
Maeve Cambria.
Ithaca got on the board within the first two minutes of the contest when Wagener scored from an assist by sophomore
Jacqui Hallack. Approximately two minutes later, junior
Bailey Herr scored her first goal of the day from an assist by Panara to make the score 2-0. The assist by the senior represented her 253
rd career point, putting Panara all alone in first-place as the program's all-time leading point getter. Both players would go on to have monster performances throughout the course of the afternoon.
IC continued their dominant start with a 6-0 run before RIT scored its first goal. With 23:13 remaining in the first half, Rice scored her 50th goal of the season. Following that, Ithaca scored four goals in two minutes which was kicked off by Panara scoring her 19th goal of the season. Shortly after, sophomore
Megan Motkowski scored to put the Bombers up 5-0.
Herr scored her second goal of the day, which was assisted by Panara, with 14:33 remaining in the half to extend the Bombers' lead. McGee then scored off a Herr assist to make the score 7-0 with 14:02 remaining.
The last goal of the half for the Bombers was scored by Motkowski for her 23rd of the season. RIT scored its first goal of the contest when sophomore Krystyna Sterio scored with 5:36 remaining.
At the end of the first half, Ithaca had taken 27 shots on goal compared to RIT's four. IC had nine draw controls while RIT only had one, and RIT was plagued with turnovers, finishing the first half with 12 while IC only had five.
Ithaca's dominance did not slow down in the second half. RIT junior Alanna Fallone scored first, but Ithaca responded by scoring three straight goals. Panara scored first, followed by Rice and then another goal by Panara on a free position to make the score 11-2 with 22:50 remaining in the second half.
RIT added two more goals, which were scored by sophomores Olivia Africa and Collette Rigas. However, Ithaca then went on a 4-0 scoring run over approximately four minutes in which Herr scored all four goals. She started her streak by coming around the back of the net and slinging it into the net and then followed it up with two more goals to make the score 14-4.
Herr made the score 15-4 after the scored her fourth goal over that time span and her fifth of the day. After RIT's Fallone scored her second goal of the day with 12:34 remaining, Ithaca exploded for four more goals to close out the game.
Sophomore
Madison Boutureira scored her sixth goal of the season to extend the Bombers' lead to 16-5. Shortly after, Herr scored her seventh and final goal of the game. With 4:32 remaining in the second half, Rice scored her third goal of the day, which was followed by McGee scoring her second goal of the day. Fallone scored another goal for RIT to end the game with three goals herself to have a final score of 19-6.
Herr led the team with a game-high with 11 points, which came off of a season-high seven goals and four assists. Panara had seven points off three goals and four assists. Sophomore
Molly Nodiff led the Bombers in caused turnovers with four, while sophomores
Rachel Rosenberg and
Indira Varma each had one.

Mackenzie Schade finished with eight saves for the Bombers, improving her record to 12-5 as the goalie of record.
With the win, Ithaca clinched the No. 2 seed in next weekend's Liberty League Conference Tournament and will play next on Saturday, May 4, with start time and opponent still to-be determined. They will take on the winner of the No. 3 Skidmore and No. 6 RPI quarterfinal game, which will be played on Tuesday, April 30. The game will be hosted by William Smith who had already clinched the Liberty League's regular-season title and top-seed earlier this week.
